    Information on Sailing Courses

    What to wear

There are a number of things people should do to head out on a
    yacht for the first time.

    1. Dress your feet for the occasion: No high heels or black sole shoes that will mark the gelcoat please!
    2. Comfortable, sensible clothes that cover and protect from the sun and wind. Always have a warm jumper and
    wet weather gear.
    3. Hats are essential, carry a spare or tie a line to your cap and attach it to your shirt.
    4. Don't forget the sunnies for your eyes and your looks!
    5. Apply plenty of sunscreen especially to the face and backs of your hands. Don't forget the lip screen.
don't want you going homelooking over cooked.
    6. Take drinking water and a snack if you will be out for a long time.
    7. Tell the instructor if you cannot swim.

    Whats it all about!

Have you ever had a dream...?
To escape the rat race and get back to nature?
    To relax and unwind?
    Maybe meet some new friends?
Enjoy a beer after the day, on the water?
Sailing is one the most natural sport there is, it is drivern by the elements, clean water, clean air and your mates.

    Talk the talk

Every sport or profession has its own lingo and sailing is no exception. To help sail the boat you need to be able to talk the lingo. For example the pointy end is the bow and the blunt bit the stern. Take the time to visit www.thebigblue.com.au Study section to start the learning process. During the on-board lessons we will be referring to these parts of the boat so it's best to get familiar with the real names instead of the common laymans' approach.
"just pull the yellow and black thingywhatsit".

    Once onboard

We will give you a full safety briefing,

    1. Show you the location of life jackets and other safety gear on board.
    2. Explain the dangers onboard a boat e.g. winches and the boom.
    3. Explain how to move around the boat.
    4. Explain the parts of the boat.
    5. Then we will go sailing.
